Planning a trip to Egypt? Have you heard of Sharm el Sheikh? If not, it’s an underrated beach and resort area located in the Southern Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, and is best known for world-class level diving in the beautiful Red Sea which is famous for consistently warm crystal-clear water and one of the best underwater ecosystems. Have I sold you on visiting yet?
How do I get to Sharm el Sheikh?
We traveled during the pandemic so road access was limited with lots of closures so traveling by car from most parts of Egypt would not have been efficient. The best way to get to Sharm is by booking a flight. There are many flight options available online (mainly Egypt Air).
Now that you’ve made it to Sharm el Sheikh, where should you stay?
Once we had found out there was a Four Seasons here, I was so set on staying here! Unfortunately we decided to visit last minute and the rooms were fully booked, although we were bummed, we were still able to enjoy a lot of the hotel amenities as guests and spent the entire day blissfully by the pool, strawberry smoothie in hand, and not a care in the world!
The Four Seasons is conveniently located within a 10 minute drive of the airport. We appreciated how thorough they were at the security gate; they checked our taxi’s trunk, and made sure our names were on the guest list before allowing us to enter. Once we were checked in at the lobby, we were introduced to Manager who escorted us on a quick tour of the property via golf cart, as it was quite vast! There were just so many amenities…think 4 pools, the private beach, beach bar, cliff-side restaurants and the diving pier!
How’s the food here?
Two words: absolutely delightful! There are themed restaurants: steak, seafood, small bites, Asian, Egyptian and Italian. It was a lovely change since we had been eating local cuisine for the last week, we had really missed pasta so we dined at Il Frantoio. We ordered the sea bass, truffle risotto and chocolate lava cake for dessert. Everything was drool-worthy!
What is there to do at the hotel?
There’s something for everyone here! Whether you want to relax by one of the their 4 pools available, pamper yourself to a spa treatment, focus on wellness with yoga, walk down to the private beach, snorkel at the house reef to see one of the best underwater ecosystems in the world or go for a leisurely sunset cruise on their yacht…there really is an activity for everyone and all moods!
I hope I’ve convinced you to add a stop to Sharm El-Sheikh if you have plans on visiting beautiful Egypt! This was one of our favorite stops of our trip and I only regret not allowing enough time here! I’d recommend 2-3 days to allow enough time to enjoy all there is to offer here! Happy traveling! 🙂
